Let’s Put Away the Childish Nonsense We Have Been Taught About Who is a Christian!

One of the biggest and most widespread false teachings and beliefs in the church is the idea that if someone says with their mouth they believe in Jesus, they are a Christian, they are saved, and no one must EVER question that!  How did we ever get to this point of buying into such nonsense?  All that mere words qualify a person to be is a demon:

You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe–and shudder! James 2:19

This is the reason why the wicked, including abusers, are able to carry on their masquerade in our churches. And it is the reason why so many abuse victims are put through so much doubt, fog, misery, and grief. “But he is a Christian, isn’t he?” No. Somehow like the black plague this lie has been spread by the false teachings of rats for a long, long time. Think of the devastation it causes, the faith of the weak it extinguishes, the distortions of God’s own character it promotes. A wicked person is not a Christian!

The Person Blessed by God Knows What Evil Looks Like

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalms 1:1-6)

What kind of person is blessed by the Lord? God’s blessing, you know, is the opposite of His curse. Ever since the Fall in Eden, man has been under the curse. And justly so. Death. Pain. The creation itself fighting against us with its thorns and diseases, stinging insects and biting serpents. Even the oceans and the atmosphere we breathe can turn on us. Things have gone very, very wrong.

The Spiritual and Christlike Discipline of Rejecting Wicked People

2 Corinthians 6:15-18  What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

Christ rejected evil people and he instructs us to do the same. One of the reasons that the wicked have such a heyday practicing their evil among Christians is that we are not properly instructed in this discipline. Think about it. Your church tells you that Christians are to love all other people. Be kind to everyone. Invite them into your home. We teach our children all of this stuff. We think it is so Christian to stick a sign out on the front lawn of the church that says “Everyone Welcome!”  But when was the last time you were taught the Godly principle of rejecting the wicked? That Christ does not want some people to enter His church.  How often are our children taught these things? …
