Unmasking the Domestic Abuser in the Church

Does Time Heal all Wrongs?

That happened a long time ago. You can’t keep holding it against me.

Have you ever heard that line? It actually is pretty commonly used by RASNs (revilers, abusers, sociopaths, narcissists). Especially if they claim to be Christians. They will throw in a twisted Bible verse or two to back up their claim.

When it comes to sin, time does not heal all wrongs. God Himself does not just “forget about it.”

But they do not consider that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds surround them; they are before my face.
(Hos 7:2)

RASNs so often make this claim – that because so many years have gone by, we have no right to remember their sin. But in the very act of making such a claim, they betray that they have not changed, have not repented, and have no intention of repenting. Sin unconfessed, unrepented of, does not just dissolve with time. It is still there on the books, as if it were committed afresh every single day.

A man caused dissension in a church we were going to when he was unfaithful to his wife. Said it happened ten years ago (which already sounds like a lie) and that he is already over it. He already repented! He did confess however it was more of a reveling than a confession. Never wanted to be the church leader he said. Left my family and others without a church to go to and had the nerve to sit there and say he was justified. It makes me sick to my stomach the lack of remorse for a heinous crime that will not receive any kind of Judgement or punishment from the church. On a more positive note I used to work for a farmer that I believed to bipolar. Never confirmed that but he was prone to angry outbursts. Several times he exploded in random angry outbursts while working, but every time would come to me confess, apologize and ask forgiveness. Truly sorrowful and recognized his error. Not the with the RASN that is continuing to to live in sin.

We humans forget that God is outside of time. He is eternal, timeless. He always was, always is, and always will be. That means that the unrepentant sin that the unbeliever commits is ever growing, ever increasing in size and is awakening God’s wrath. It’s like a dung pile that just keeps getting bigger, smellier, and more offensive each day it exists. It’s ever-growing until the day that it’s removed and tossed aside into the fire to be destroyed. That day grows ever closer.

RASNs have extremely large piles of sin waiting for the wrath of God to come and deal with once and for all. Nothing will be forgotten no matter the size or nature of the offense. No justification for how long it’s been will buy the unrepentant sinner grace in the eyes of God. Only perfect justice suited to the evil they perpetrated while living this life is what they will receive.
